• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Toddler bed

Thanks for the comments guys! She does like it a lot, the first 2 days we were hard pressed to get her out of bed! When we first assembled everything to do the first test fit we had to stop work for about an hour as she climbed in and didn't want to climb out. Andy, she is 2 years...

    Toddler bed

So I actually finished this some time ago, but work has been a madhouse so only got round to uploading the photos now. Here is the finished product. Both the little one and the wife loves it, so I'm happy. The drawer is a little bit tighter than is ideal, which is my fault for trying to fit...

    Toddler bed

I was able to make some progress over the previous weekend. We are now mostly done with the construction and most of the work that remains is just finishing. I built the drawer that will fit under the bed. The construction is simple, a flat square box just smaller than the bed itself...

    Toddler bed

I was able to make a decent amount of progress during the previous weekend, the bed structure is now basically complete. There is still a bit of finishing needed, and the roof needs to be built, but I'm happy with the speed of progress so far. I wanted to be able to remove the safety rails if...

    Toddler bed

I was able to make some progress over the last weekend, but due to some other commitments I was only able to spend a couple of hours. I started by attaching the head and foot to the legs, My thinking was that this would be easier than to attach the runners first. For this I used furniture...

    Table Saw

I have been meaning to do a quick wright-up about using vinegar to clean up rust, so here it is eventually! Here are some before pics: Even the wooden handle looks worse for ware: My first challenge was finding a container big enough to put the plane in, I eventually settled on a...

    Toddler bed

I have managed to make a bit of progress over the past weekend. I cut the head and foot of the bed out of some old pine shelving I had lying around, I did a quick mock-up just to see if all the dimensions looked correct and also had SWAMBO in to have a look: I wanted to incorporate a...

    Toddler bed

We found out recently that we will be adding another member to the family close to the middle of the year, unfortunately we will most likely not be able to move to a larger house, so we had to think about a couple of options to maximize our space. So first item on the list is a toddler bed for...

    Cutlery drawer divider

This is a really small little item that I knocked together 1 afternoon after work, and I never intended to make a WIP, however I was so impressed with the difference it made v.s. the amount of time and effort it took that I thought let me upload the end result as it may be beneficial to someone...

    Table Saw

SO over the weekend I managed to take a couple of photo's of what the top looks like. I'm already well into my latest project (as can be seen by the saw dust and shavings all over the place! ). I have to say I'm really enjoying the the new work space. I also managed to use the router to...

    Saw Milling Experiment

I hope starting this tread under the WIP section is the correct place, if not please move it mods. :) I recovered a small tree stump from a fallen tree behind the beach house and decided to see if I could manage to cut boards from it. Unfortunately I don't have access to a band saw so i was...

    Beach house "Braai"

Just to finish up this tread here are some pics of the finished product! Due to the screws I had available I was forced to screw down the top from above, not quite what I wanted to do, but it works... Some hooks for hanging braai tongs etc. An action shot! We found the braai works...

    Table Saw

Eventually I'm back from a lovely holiday and this past weekend I managed to find a couple of hours to work on the work bench. I added the tops of the frame and glue and screw them down. (My apologies for some of the photos being rather poor quality.) I then placed the top I intended to...

    Table Saw

After some closer inspection I found that during my attempt at "aligning" the saw I actually managed to let the carrier slip out of the trunnion, which is why the saw suddenly got stuck on the frame... After another couple of hours of fiddling and struggling I have managed to get the saw back...
