• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Ordering sheet material pre-cut to cutlist

Hi, I'm looking to make some quick simple drawers for my current shed - not to dissimilar to the Malc's drill press stand. I still haven't got round to making my workshop, so with space and time limited I was thinking of effectively getting a kit cut that I could quickly assembly. Shed a little...

    Cladding shrinkage

Hello I had to build a mini shed earlier this year as a temporary fix, and have been amazed by the amount of shrinkage of the cladding - resulting in some gaps. This was on treated t+g cladding - nothing special. The location is quite exposed, south facing, and the past 6 weeks or so of dry...

    Insulation

A general query - given this hot weather we are experiencing, how are peoples workshops to work in given the amount/type of insulation they have used? Luckily we don't have to deal with these temperatures too often - I'm not sure id last! And on the flip-side, how have they held up during...

    Ottoman Bed components

Afternoon, I am contemplating building an Ottoman bedframe - although ideally I would like to buy a metal frame with slats/gas struts/hinges off the shelf, and then install it into my own frame. Has anyone got any recommendations of where I could find this? A quick google turned up this...

    DeWalt Dust Extractors

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with DeWalt Dust extractors? I have been fortunate to be offered a bit of a discount, and wondering if it works be a good buy? I currently use a small hover - which didn't really cut the mustard! Although I'm planning on building a workshop...

Tools & Extraction for new workshop

I'll be restarting the planning for a workshop in my garden, and thought I'd canvas for opinions/ideas. My aim is to, hopefully, use the workshop for making things like garden/house furniture - after honing my skills. So total output from shop will no be massive (ie it's not my job!). I...

Mike's greenhouse and potting shed (raft poured)

Mike, Is the brick wall simply for aesthetics? To protect the potting shed from the greenhouse heat? Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk

    Hello!

Have recently joined after being seduced by Mike's Workshop Build post. I have my own workshop planning/build happening this year. Currently I have no dedicated workplace, and have had to work where the job is in most cases. OK, I'm a diy-er/hobby kind of guy, but it does become limiting for...

    CAD

SketchUp seems popular here. I have used it before but found out a little limited in some regards - although I think that was my own limitations. Fit example, when I had a quick look I couldn't generate a BOM (Bill of Materials)/cut list easily. I use Catia V5 CAD software everyday at work, so...

    Workshop design (Finally Progress!)

I came across this forum, after being linked to Mike’s shed build project from elsewhere. I had started thinking about shed design for my new project, and Mike’s methods seemed to back up and enhance my other research! Currently we have a 3mx3m garden shed that is damp and in a poor state. I...
