• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Perhaps Kirk, fingers crossed, as I've not tested it yet to find out if it'll work out... Another little job done since was getting a new platen stop sorted. Drilling and tapping for some M12 stainless threaded rods... And a new "keeper" bracket to suit Which required a little motor...

    Thanks Mike, that makes for some interesting reading. I've not heard of the term "splits" before, nor what's involved in the process of veg tanning, using oak. In regards to old couches, I was referring to making an apron from, as I think that's where I would be drawing the line from anymore...

    Kinda gave up on making use of the leather offcuts bag, well at least for the time being... (though would likely salvage some for an apron), if I tripped across a nice couch getting skipped, and there wouldn't be that much sewing involved that a machine would be needed. not holding my breath...

    Freehand dressing will not likely achieve a good result... well not by doing it safely, i.e turning wheels by hand. Rigging up a block shouldn't be too difficult, whether with abrasives or scraping. This is a lot more foolproof than attempting the whole profile in one go, due to the upper wheel...
