• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    The chateau

I find him quite enthusiastic and clever, it was amusing when he thought he could make some new windows with a decrepid old spindle moulder. I think we have one of angels duvet covers she did for sainsburys. Half decent quality as well. Going back to the other chateau offering, the winner gets...

    The chateau

They had a big bust up with the film crew and production company I think. I didn't mind the show, I always liked strawbridge from scrapheap challenge.

Praise where praise is due Leicester Royal Infirmary.

She used to spend days in a darkened room with ice packs and a sick bowl, it is only about one day a week now. There are quite a few treatments and coping mechanisms nowadays depending on what type of migraine one gets. A few years ago they were trialing a device called a trans cranial...

    The chateau

Anyone else been forced to watch this renovation competition show. It reminds me of changing rooms from the 90's. The bizarre thing is the winner gets given a chateau. The contestants are supposed to be diy enthusiasts but the quality of work is pants, and the woodwork even worse. As always...

Praise where praise is due Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Poor thing has had a headache everyday for 19 years and then 2-3 migraines a week. She was one of the first to have botox therapy, back then it was done in an operating theatre all gowned up, now its a consultation room.

Praise where praise is due Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Wife suffers horribly with headache and migraine, neurologist puts 36 injections of botox in her head every 3 months which reduces the severity and frequency.

Wall cupboards in a cold garage

I've noticed that polished surfaces resist rust also. I had an old morticer which had been left outside for a while, everything had a rusting except where you put your hand to pull, 70years of use had polished and worn the steel to the point it looked chromed. Maybe it was the oil from hands. It...

Wall cupboards in a cold garage

I have been running an industrial dehumidifier in my shed for a few months now and am pleased with the results. I have a lot of cold cast iron and normally I am fighting the rust monster. It is adjustable for moisture levels and collects about 15l a week. It looks like it has added about £45 a...

Don't see these on EBay very often

I think they were used on submarines. I saw one recently on facebook and by the time I realised what it was and messaged it was gone.

    Persuading Stick

Nice little project Al, I have a bag of balls waiting somewhere, I also have a bag of 'plastic' type balls. I reckon they might trash most cutting edges except carbide.

    Flat belts for old machines

It is called belata belting and is available in various widths, the fasteners are called crocodile belting clips. Theres a wadkin lathe that used flatbelt drive. There are modern belts but prices are eye watering. They are nice though with leather as the friction side backed with neoprene. They...

    Feeling ever so slightly chuffed

I recently had a similar thing done but chemically induced, very peculiar being laid on a bed rigged up to everything and your heart pounding at 160bpm whilst consultant does an ultrasound on your ticker. I'd already tried the treadmill thing but kept having a coughing fit.

    MFC - the Blade Assassin

I worked for chep pallets for a long time and broken boards that came from repairing the pallets were collected by a chipboard worktop company by the 40' trailer. They were shredded up nails n all and made into boards/worktops. I presume they had a magnet in the process but stuff obviously gets...

    Auction that may be interest

I've never understood why auctioneers group things together, like who needs 8 drawknives or 10 handsaws. Surely making groups of tools would attract more bids

    Ornamental lathe restoration

Utterly wasted on my capabilities, I still cant get over that I sold my tom senior mill for £650 and got this for £750. There's a few different ones dotted around to remind me not to do stupid stuff. There off Ave on youtube.

Oak Timber frame (and formally a Diminished stile door (markup and cutting the diminished part?))

I think the title needs altering :) I was just meandering through a door thread and bam, oak framed creation. What is the story behind it? What are the demensions? It looks quite small or the timbers are really big.
