• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

A few pics before going to work.

I love the picture of the spider web, I can remember making a loop of grass and trying to collect webs on the way to primary school.
 
Used to have a Troy Built, great machine which had a cutting height of 7" which was ideal for tall grass areas. Sadly no way to attach a collector other than a pull behind sweep. My wife wasn't keen on the dogs bringing grass clippings into the house. Go figure. :)

While on holiday in Cornwall last month we visited the https://www.bonythonmanor.co.uk/ and saw this in action covering a very large area around trees and a lake at the bottom of this paddock/orchard. Quite impressive to watch it going backwards and forwards doing its job. Definitely saves the gardener there a fair bit of work - and time. Hopefully gives a small sight of the area it was covering...

I took a 2½ minute video of it going round... not sure how to (if ablevto?) upload a video... plus it may be a bit boring for watching - but I'll admit to finding g it rather relaxing... and avtad mesmerising 😂

True Martin... and that did cross my mind. Unfortunately a sign of the times and not just in such gardens as these. Watched the Clarkson's Farm series and saw him using robotic ploughing and sowing machines... working through the nights as well as days... Now there's 'driverless taxis' starting to drive folk around London...
 
I did look into these at one time, for a commercial/farm grade unit and I fainted at the price.
I do enjoy sitting on the mower, its a weird satisfaction knowing you did the job.
 
They've got quite a few robot mowers at work. Husqvarna ones I think. They seem to spend an awful lot of time parked in the middle of the lawn having run out of battery.

That’s odd. I thought they were intelligent enough to know when the battery was running low and make theirown way to the charging station before the juice ran out. Mark? Roger? Do yours ever run out of charge away from the docking station?

They have a long cable (leading back to the charger) that runs under the lawn. When they're running out of juice, they drive back and forth randomly trying to detect the cable. If they find it, they follow it back to base. If they don't find the cable in time, they stop.

Someone didn't do their research properly...
 
There was a you tube vid with one of these during setup
It was supposed to tour the site mapping it's territory but it started off by mowing a hexagram on the guys lawn.
Another incident was a software bug( they can be updated - or even controlled- remotely by the manufacturer) which caused hundreds of the things to wake up in the early hours and leave their docking station to go on night manoeuvres.
