• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

How much??!!!? (No 3)

If it was an oil painting, nobody would be surprised by that price. Yet there are far more skilled painters in the world than there are toolmakers who could produce a tool like that one.

Which is my long-winded way of saying that it's selling into a different market than most tools!

Good point. We should be grateful that it wasn't designed by Picasso. Anything by him would have never planed in a straight line!

And it's not as if he was known for his bookcases.

If the Chinese spot that the market will be flooded with copies next week at 5 bob each.

The price one pays for hens teeth!

You: Link to Jim Bode's site. Exclaim at price.

Me: A link to Jim Bode's site will only ever be remarkable when it's for a deal on three tools for five bucks. Shipped.

I was going to buy it but they didn't clock the skate screws, that ruins it for me.

It's the lack of a cable and plug that put me off.

The white knob thingies are probably ivory; not sure then about the regulations with regard to importing it into the UK, or indeed the ethical question? - Rob

Have a look at this:

It's got to be cheaper to commission one bloke to chop down the tree for the wood and another bloke to build the thing.

It does look very nice though.

This is a famous copy made by a famous toolmaker in the US. One sold for $30k about 15 years ago.

Not your everyday user :)

If a copy's going for that much, you have to wonder how much an original would cost!
