• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I've recently 'upgraded' to an 1Phone 12 :) from my previous iPhone 6. ( I find it's better value to buy 'used' from a reliable outlet.)

However, while trying to upload the images of the last things I've made to that very post, I'm told the images are too big. I checked, and each one is about 2mb.

Were my iPhone 6 images smaller, or does the forum software set a size limit lower than 2mb?

As one that has rural wifi internet from a tower 3 or 4 kilometres away, for the sake of download time I wish everyone would resize their pictures to a couple, three hundred kilobytes each. They display fine on the screen and don't take as much time to download. Some of the big file sized pictures of 5 mb or more don't open at all. 2mb pics take a while especially if the post has lots of pictures.

Thanks
Pete

I didn't realise that it looks like it should be a practice to reduce image sizes before posting to ease downloading times for slower download locations. In fact, I never really knew what size my images have been until I looked today after failing to load them in a post here.

I’ll leave it to the more tech savvy members of the team to help Malc as I do not understand why you should have a problem

This image at 4.3 mb loaded in just 35 seconds on a very slow adsl internet line.

If I understand correctly the forum software automatically resizes the images as you upload them.

Malc....are your photos in PNG format as I find those can be a problem with the forum s/w. I'll open them in Preview and then save back as a jpeg. Then upload that

Mine are HEICs, and I still can't load direct from photos.

I don't think that xenforo will support HEIC format - not many things will do, that is a proprietary Apple format - designed to hold additional information so that you can see the 'live preview' and choose your version of a photo... - simple JPG format and there shouldn't be an issue...

Yeah it's a weird one with iPhone's (of which I am a user) that some pics save as HEIC and some as JPG and there doesn't seem to be a pattern that I can tell. I've also found that some HEIC's will upload and some won't, so I gave up after a while! If you turn off the live photo option on a picture and re-save it then it should save as JPG and upload okay.

Then again sometimes I get the message that a pic is too large and other times I don't, and the ones that do upload can be bigger file sizes than the ones that won't. My brain hurt then so I stopped looking into it...

Even a screen grab was 4.9mb even though it says 2mb on the info. Yet live photo was already turned off.
