• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. Morning all

Got a question. I have to make a 3m x1.5m notice board out of cherry. The top and bottom of the notice board are 1.5m plus the tennon sections, these are to be mitred and biscuited in the corners. The client don't want MDF (cool). I have the cherry the frame is going to be 100mm wide by 25mm thick, now the question I have is, what would be the best way to joint the two sections. My thoughts were to M&T and the let in a straight bracket top and bottom?????? Would this work?

By the way the daler bord will be in three secton as will the backing ply (3mm). Total weight will be around 35 - 45kgs, I am supplying heavy duty fixings and the client is installing it, have advised the client to ensure it is fitted to the stud work and not just the plasterboard.

I'm struggling to follow, I'm afraid. Which "two sections" are you asking about?
 
I think you are asking how to make a butt join in a 100 x 25mm profile which is half way along a 3m run of frame...

I'd guess the answer is different if you have access to the back before it goes on the wall. if you can get to the back then a screwed and glued insert piece would do it. if one half gets hung then the other half offered up to it you can only have a sliding joint and maybe some locking screws through the frame edge if they can't be seen.
