• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I took my car to the garage yesterday. There was a product recall on the battery management sytem, it was due its first service and there was a squeak from the wheels whenever I turned left.
I mentioned it to the lady behind the desk and she smiled. She obviously knew exactly what the problem was and she told me not to worry, it was just a noise..
She typed it into her phone and it came out as "Brake Staples". I did not, and still do not understand what that means.
I wish I knew the French word from which she began, but sadly, I don't.
Does anyone know what Brake Staples are?
Whatever they are, they have been replaced and the noise has gone away, but I am still none the wiser.

Maybe the spring clips that keep pads in place

👍

I had mine replaced after a few months as the damn things screeched when turning either way, only at slow speed for some reason. A different make of car to yours Steve and that was probably 7 years ago. Never had an issue before or after with any other car. The motorhome brakes used to squeal but never got to the bottom of that and the dealers said it was " a known characteristic".

Copper grease tends to solve this problem
I tried that several times as well as specific brake squeal sprays but nothing lasted long. It wasn't terrible but bugged the hell out of me. I found myself giving an appologetic wave to pedestrians as it was worse as slow speed.
